Matteo Beretta
Matteo Beretta è entrato a far parte dello studio Cleary Gottlieb nel 1997, è diventato consulente nel 2004 e socio nel 2014. Ha lavorato presso la sede di Washington e quella di Bruxelles prima di trasferirsi alla sede di Roma nel 2001. Divide il suo tempo tra la sede di Milano e quella di Roma. L'attività di Matteo Beretta si concentra principalmente sul diritto antitrust italiano e dell'Unione Europea, ambito in cui fornisce consulenza a numerose importanti società internazionali in materia di procedure di controllo delle concentrazioni e di questioni relative a cartelli e abuso di posizione dominante. Le aree di esperienza sono Antitrust, Istituzioni bancarie e finanziarie, Energia, Italia e Media e pubblicità. Parla Italiano, Inglese, francese e spagnolo.

Daniele Calisti
Daniele Calisti lavora presso la Commissione Europea, dove è a capo dell’Unità responsabile per le concentrazioni nei settori delle industrie di base, manifattura e agricoltura. In tale ruolo ha diretto investigazioni di alto profilo su acquisizioni Europee e globali. Precedentemente ha lavorato su iniziative di politica generale presso il Direttorato Generale per la Concorrenza, inclusa la direttiva sul risarcimento del danno antitrust. Laureato in Giurisprudenza alla LUISS di Roma, il dott. Calisti è anche LLM presso il King’s College di Londra, e ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Diritto Pubblico dell’Economia presso l’Università la Sapienza di Roma.

Andrea Cicala
Andrea Cicala of Baker McKenzie is the heads the Antitrust, Competition & Trade Practice as well as of the International Commercial Practice of Baker McKenzie Italy.
Andrea regularly assists clients on competition matters including the assessment of the legitimacy of agreements and commercial practices as well as the detection of anti-competitive conduct (cartels, abuse of dominant position, restraints and evaluation of related risks). He also assists clients in investigations started by competition authorities, in related appeals before Italian administrative courts, and in litigation before the ordinary courts, including in relation to claims for antitrust damages. He also leads competition law compliance training programs and seminars.
Andrea has also a relevant experience in assisting clients in pre-merger filings before the Italian Antitrust Authority in connection with acquisitions (both shares and asset transactions) as well as joint ventures, disinvestments, mergers.
In addition to the practice relating to the area of competition law, Andrea regularly advises on commercial and company law, in particular commercial contracts focused on the fashion/retail and luxury sector.

Ilaria de Lisa
Ilaria de Lisa at Gleiss Lutz advises on competition law, with a particular focus on multi-national merger control and cartel investigations. Additionally, she specializes in cross-border compliance programmes and internal investigations. Ilaria studied at the universities of Milan, Berkeley and Cambridge (LL.M. 2012). She obtained a PhD at the university of Hannover (2020 - Faculty Prize). Ilaria completed her legal training in Milan and was admitted to practice in Italy in 2013 (Avvocato). She is currently registered as such at the German bar. Ilaria has been with Gleiss Lutz since 2013. She speaks Italian, English and German.

Pablo Solano Díaz
Pablo Solano is a European Union (EU), regulation and competition lawyer currently working as counsel with Xiaomi technology in charge for competition law in Europe. He regularly lectures on EU and competition law and regulation at Carlos III University, Navarra University, Instituto Superior de Economía y Derecho and Instituto de Empresa, as well as other courses and conferences, and publishes papers and contributions in several specialised journals and blogs. Pablo is member of the board of the Spanish Association for the Protection of Competition and the editorial board of Kluwer Law’s World Competition.
Pablo holds Double degree in Law and Business Management from the University of Seville, a double master’s degree in European Law (LLM) and Economic Analysis from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium), a master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Seville, and several specialisation certificates. His professional experience includes EU law, competition law and regulation at law firms (Uría Menénez, Slaughter and May) and IT companies (Amadeus IT Group), and he has completed stays in the Court of Justice of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Micaela Arias Domecq
Micaela is a Special Advisor in the Information Society Unit of the Spanish Competition Authority (CNMC). This unit handles mergers and antitrust cases in digital, telecoms and related sectors. She has also worked for the legal services of the Danish Competition Authority. She has a degree in Law and in Business Administration (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE E-3) and belongs to the Spanish Corps of State Economists and Trade Experts.

Domenico Gullo
Domenico Gullo è Partner del team Competition e Regulated Markets all’interno del dipartimento Litigation & Regulatory dello studio legale DLA Piper. Lavora presso l’ufficio di Roma. Si occupa di diritto comunitario, diritto della concorrenza, nazionale e comunitario, nonché di pratiche commerciali scorrette e di tutela del consumatore. §
Nella sua carriera professionale ha acquisito esperienza relativamente al controllo delle concentrazioni, alle istruttorie in materia di intese ed abusi di posizione dominante, agli aiuti di Stato ed al diritto comunitario.
In particolare, vanta una specifica esperienza relativamente ai settori delle Telecomunicazioni, delle Istituzioni Finanziarie nonché dei giochi e delle scommesse.
Ha ottenuto LL.M. in E.C. and competition law, European Law Institute, Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Dal 2017, l’avv. Gullo è classificato da Chambers and Partners e Legal 500 tra i principali professionisti del settore in Italia.

Friso Koel
Friso Koel is a senior executive with over 25 years of experience in regulation and competition policy across both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Competition Department at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), where he leads strategic and operational activities related to competition enforcement.
Friso has been with ACM since 2009, holding a number of key leadership roles. For over 14 years, he was Head of Unit for Regional Networks, overseeing regulation in critical sectors such as energy and transport. Previously, he served as Unit Manager for Energy and Transport Regulation at the former Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa), which merged into ACM in 2013.
Before joining the regulatory sector, Friso built a strong foundation in consulting and corporate marketing. He worked as a Senior Consultant at Capgemini Consulting and Paul Postma Marketing Consultancy, advising clients on marketing strategy and business development. In the corporate sector, he held Marketing Manager positions at both Rabobank and T-Mobile, focusing on CRM, customer experience, and market segmentation. His career began at Capgemini in 1997, where he spent nearly six years as a Consultant.
Education
Friso Koel holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen), where he studied from 1990 to 1996. His academic background provided a solid foundation in economic theory, market analysis, and public policy. He completed his secondary education at Andreas College (1984–1990).

Konrad Ost
Konrad Ost, Dr. jur. (Heidelberg), LL.M. (Cambridge), is since September 2015 Vice-President of the Bundeskartellamt. From 2010 to 2015, he was Head of the General Policy Division and from 2008 to 2010 he was Head of its Litigation Service and represented the Bundeskartellamt before the German Federal Court of Justice. From 2004 to 2008 he headed the Unit for German and European Antitrust Law within the General Policy Division. Before that, he worked as a lawyer in the Litigation Service and in a Decision Division dealing mainly with medical equipment and mechanical engineering products. He has written numerous articles on antitrust procedure, private antitrust enforcement and other competition law topics. He teaches competition law at the University of Bonn (Honorary Professor).

Alberto Pera
Alberto Pera è partner onorario e fondatore del Dipartimento di Concorrenza e Regolamentazione dello Studio Gianni & Origoni, di cui fa parte da novembre 2000. È un esperto riconosciuto in materia di concorrenza nazionale e europea: è classificato come Senior Stateman for Competition and European Law dalla directory Chambers Europe 2023 ed è inserito nella Hall of Fame degli avvocati italiani esperti in diritto della concorrenza e regolamentazione da The Legal 500 ed è fin dalla prima edizione incluso nel Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists.
Ha rappresentato e rappresenta alcune tra le maggiori imprese italiane nei principali procedimenti in materia di concorrenza e concentrazione di fronte all’Autorità Antitrust, alla Commissione Europea, ai Tribunali Amministrativi e alla Corte di Giustizia Europea.
Dal luglio 2017 è Presidente dell’Associazione Antitrust Italiana (AAI), che raggruppa oltre 50 Studi Legali e Società di consulenza economica attivi nel settore antitrust e della tutela del consumatore.
È stato Segretario Generale dell'Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato dal 1990 al 2000.
Precedentemente è stato economista del Fondo Monetario Internazionale e Capo Economista dell’IRI.
Ha conseguito la laurea in Economia presso l'Università “La Sapienza” di Roma, la laurea in Giurisprudenza presso l’Università di Macerata e il Master di Science in Economics presso la London School of Economics.
È stato Consigliere di Amministrazione e Presidente di società quotate ed istituzioni bancarie.
Ha pubblicato quattro libri e numerosissimi articoli sulla politica della concorrenza, le privatizzazioni e la regolamentazione. È membro del Comitato Editoriale dello European Competition Journal e di Concorrenza e Mercato.
È iscritto all’Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma e all’Albo Speciale degli Avvocati Cassazionisti.

Katrin Schallenberg
Katrin Schallenberg is a partner at Clifford Chance. Her practice focuses on European and French antitrust and merger control. She advises clients across multiple sectors with a focus on tech, energy, and large industrials. Katrin splits her time between Paris and Brussels. Katrin holds a law degree from the University of Vienna and an LLM from Georgetown University Law School. Katrin is a member of the Paris and New York Bar.

Mauricette Schaufeli
Mauricette Schaufeli , who is an economist as well as a lawyer, advises clients on EU and national competition law matters in all market sectors. Her mixed advisory and litigation practice focuses on cartels, dominance, merger control and state aid.
Before joining NautaDutilh in spring 2019, Mauricette served as competition economist at PwC Netherlands where she advised on wide-ranging competition matters. She started her career in 2007 at another leading law firm, where she gained deep and broad experience in European and Dutch competition law.
Mauricette splits her time between the Amsterdam and Brussel offices. Mauricette studied law and international relations at Leiden University and Sciences Po in Paris. She obtained a master’s degree in competition economics from King’s College in London. She regularly teaches with respect to competition law and competition economics. She is a member of the Dutch Association for Competition Law and Competition. Mauricette speaks Dutch, English and French.

Saverio Valentino
Avvocato, è Componente dell’Autorità garante della concorrenza e del mercato dal 13 giugno 2023.
Prima della sua nomina a componente dell’Autorità, Saverio Valentino si è prevalentemente occupato di diritto della concorrenza italiano ed europeo, patrocinando dinanzi alle corti dell’Unione europea, a quelle amministrative e civili italiane, nonché alla Commissione europea, all’Autorità garante e ad altre autorità di concorrenza in diversi Paesi del mondo.
Si è laureato con lode in giurisprudenza presso l’Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza” nel 1995. Ha conseguito un Master in diritto comunitario (LL.M.) presso il Collegio d’Europa di Bruges nel 1996, nonché un Master in legge (LL.M.) presso la University of Chicago Law School nel 2000. Ha altresì collaborato per un periodo di sei mesi con la Direzione Generale I della Commissione europea, nell’unità che si occupava di politiche commerciali multilaterali e di questioni legate all’Organizzazione mondiale del commercio e l’Organizzazione per la cooperazione e lo sviluppo economico.
È stato iscritto all’Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma dal 1999 (patrocinante in Cassazione dal 2013) e all’Ordine degli Avvocati di New York dal 2001. Partecipa regolarmente in qualità di relatore a convegni ed è autore di varie pubblicazioni giuridiche, tra cui “Article 102 TFEU on Prohibition of the Abuse of a Dominant Position” and “Article 106 TFEU on Public Undertakings and Monopolies,” in Smit & Herzog on the Law Of The European Union, (Matthew Bender, 2021). Jerome Vidal
Jérôme Vidal is the Deputy General Rapporteur and the Head of the Mergers Unit at the French Competition Authority, based in Paris. Jérôme Vidal holds a postgraduate diploma (DEA) in Political Science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux and is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale de la Concurrence, de la Consommation et de la Répression des Fraudes (ENCCRF). He began his career as an inspector with the Direction Générale de la Concurrence, de la Consommation et de la Répression des Fraudes (DGCCRF). In 2006, he joined the central directorate of the DGCCRF, where he worked as a writer in the merger control office until November 2009. That same year, he joined the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) as a seconded national expert in the unit responsible for merger control in the information, communication and media sectors. In 2012, Jérôme Vidal joined the Autorité de la concurrence, first as European affairs adviser in the Chairman’s office, then as permanent rapporteur in the mergers department. In September 2014, he became head of the Lille Interregional Competition Investigation Brigade within the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Regional Directorate for Business, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment (DIRECCTE). From 2016 to 2020, Jérôme Vidal returned to the Autorité de la concurrence, this time as deputy head of the mergers department. He then joined the Prime Minister’s Secretariat-General for European Affairs as head of the Competition and State Aid Office. Since July 2022, Jérôme Vidal has been Consumer Affairs and Commercial Practices Adviser to Olivia Grégoire, the French Minister for Business, Tourism and Consumer Affairs.
